Really saddened to learn on the death of my old friend and colleague George Reid. We joined Jazz FM together in 1990 and helped launch the station. He was the consumate jazz radio host with a super cool laid back style never flustered under pressure or faced with technical adversity. He was informed through love and experience of the music and driven by passion. George was a Brit who spent many years working in the USA, his final resting place. The world is a far less colourful place without his humour, anecdotes, advice, care and knowledge which I am truly grateful to have enjoyed. I’ll always remember his brilliant phrases, simple advice and Jazz FM opening day interview with Ella Fitzgerald when the gremlins struck. Panic abound, except for George with his royal jazz guest. Rest in peace sir. You are much missed by British colleagues who would dearly love to join the memorial in California. (George pictured with grand daughter Bunny)
